Ten to fifteen frames per second suits most cases: motion looks natural and the file stays manageable. Drop to 2-5 fps when you want a slideshow feel where each image is meant to be read. Only go above 20 fps for fast gestures or facial expressions, where dropped frames would look jerky.
Every frame in a GIF shares one canvas, so the rest are fitted to the first image's dimensions. Pictures with a different aspect ratio end up either padded with empty margins or cropped at the edges. For a clean result, run the set through the image resizer first so they all match.
The GIF format stores a loop count, so a file can be saved to play once instead of forever. Some messengers and social apps ignore that value and loop it in their own player anyway. When playing exactly once really matters, an MP4 embedded with the loop attribute turned off is the reliable choice.
