Yes — use the image upload mode instead of the camera. A QR code shown on the same screen you are holding cannot be photographed, so taking a screenshot and uploading it is the reliable route. PNG, JPG and WebP files all work.

Four causes cover almost every case: the edges of the code are cropped, the shot is out of focus so the grid smears, the contrast against the background is too low, or glare and a tilted angle distort the squares. Re-capture it straight on, including the white margin around the code, and it usually reads.

This reader never opens the link for you — it shows the decoded address as plain text first. Check that the domain is one you recognise and not a look-alike with swapped letters before you tap it. Sticker QR codes pasted over public posters are a common phishing trick for payments and logins.
